Tourism Back On Growth Path -Bartlett

Tourism Minister, Hon. Edmund Bartlett says the country's tourism sector is back on the path of growth in record time, following the downturn caused by the unrest in Western Kingston during May.
In an interview with JIS News, Mr. Bartlett said that following declines in arrivals during May and June, the figures for July and August showed that they were both record months. He added that the figure for the first five days in September is positive, showing a 10 per cent increase.

Jamaica Leads Caribbean Out of Tourism Recession

With recovery in the Caribbean tourism sector now well established, travellers from around the world have been flocking to the region.
Leading the way has been the luxury destination of Jamaica with Tourism Minister, the Hon Ed Bartlett, charting the course of a remarkable recovery along with colleagues at the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB).
Despite a global drop in the number of holiday travellers, Jamaica has managed not only to keep but to raise its market share, posting worldwide visitor figures that show a 3.6 per cent rise earlier this year. The island welcomed approximately 1.3 million visitors between January and August this year.

Dolphin Cove Has Labour Day Project At Steer Town Basic School

Dolphin Cove, Jamaica’s Number One Attraction, had its Labour Day project at the Steer Town Basic School in St. Ann on Monday May 24, 2010. Several members of Dolphin Cove’s community service team, teachers and parents from the school and volunteers from the community, worked together to give the school building a much needed facelift. The old plywood walls, which had rotted, were removed and replaced with new wood. The doors were also replaced and a fresh coat of paint applied.
