GTECH Corporation, the lottery technology and service provider to Supreme Ventures Limited, launched the Jamaican leg of its international ‘After School Advantage Programme’ on Tuesday, December 6, 2011. The event, at Dunrobin Primary School, was moving to all present, as students and teachers gathered for the opening of a new computer lab.
GTECH chose Dunrobin Primary as the first recipient of resources from the ‘After School Advantage Programme’, their country manager, Ann-Dawn Young Sang said, “Dunrobin Primary School is a very deserving school and we are happy to be a part of their progress for the future. Hopefully our donation will help give both teachers and students a more enriched learning experience.” Along with the computer lab, GTECH will also provide all additional resources necessary for its maintenance. This includes: regular site visits, upgrades for building, software upgrades, repair/replacement of equipment, and follow up visits to ensure that staff members are being involved in the project.
The goal is to become involved in other deserving schools, like Dunrobin Primary, and show the value that technology can have on learning. GTECH’s aim is to give back resources which will allow for personal skill building that can never be taken away, and to touch and enrich the lives of many in the future.
For each After School Advantage Programme centre, GTECH donates an average of US$15,000 in computer equipment, software and volunteer hours. The company works with more than 150 After School Advantage Centers, which successfully operate where the company conducts its business.
GTECH Corporation is a United States based company headquartered in Providence, Rhode Island, and operates in twenty-four U.S. states, ten Caribbean countries, and in forty-one countries globally.
