About 15,000 Jamaican Youth To Benefit From Digital Employment Opportunities

About 15,000 young Jamaicans will benefit from training, digital work opportunities and seed investments to boost the digital and animation industries in the country as a result of a US$ 20 million loan for a Youth Employment in Digital & Animation Industries Project approved today by the World Bank Board of Directors.

“This project facilitates Jamaica’s linkage into one of the fastest growing sectors in the global economy,” said Jamaica’s Minister of State for Science, Technology, Energy & Mining, Julian Robinson. “It is our strongest national thrust to date to mobilize the considerable creative and entrepreneurial talent among our youth towards earning our way to a brighter future.”

UDC Committed To Developing Downtown Kingston

The Urban Development Corporation (UDC) continues to work towards the fulfilment of its development plan for the restoration of Downtown Kingston through its divestment programme.

According to Desmond Malcolm, UDC General Manager, ‘this programme facilitates the strategic offloading of assets in the Downtown Kingston region which will ensure that the city benefits from the development plan and the expected growth levels.

80 Students Get Invaluable Work Experience For The Summer

Despite a challenging financial environment, on Friday morning (June 27), JPS held an orientation session at its Head Office for a batch of 80 summer employees. These include students from tertiary and secondary institutions, who will be employed over a seven-week period, between June 30, 2014 and August 15, 2014.
