Farmers to Benefit from Major Greenhouse Project

More than 200 farmers in the parishes of Manchester, St. Elizabeth and St. Ann, are to benefit from a $200 million hi-tech farming project involving some 20 greenhouses at eight sites.

The refurbished Bogue water treatment plant in North East St. Ann, was officially commissioned into service on April 1, by Minister of Water, Land, Environment and Climate Change, Hon. Robert Pickersgill.

Work was undertaken at a cost of $467 million, under the Jamaica Water Supply Improvement Project (JWSIP).

The move involves partnership with the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce, in keeping with the Government’s focus on strengthening the capacity of the SME sector to contribute to the growth of the economy.
