Jamaica to Export Hot Pepper and Dasheen to Trinidad

State Minister in the Ministry of Agriculture, Labour and Social Security, Hon. Luther Buchanan, says an agreement has been reached at the CARICOM level for the export of the crops to the twin-island republic.

Addressing the St. Ann Agricultural, Industrial and Food Show at the Noranda Bauxite Club in Discovery Bay, St. Ann, on Saturday, March 21, Mr. Buchanan said the agreement will be “a win-win” for both countries, particularly the Jamaican farmers.


Business Leaders Urged To Mentor Start Up Jamaica Entrepreneurs

The country’s business leaders are urged to come forward to mentor young technology entrepreneurs benefiting from the Government’s ‘Start Up Jamaica’ (SUJ) initiative.

The call came from State Minister for Science, Technology, Energy and Mining, Hon. Julian Robinson, who stressed that these “very bright talented youngsters” have great ideas but are not necessarily business people, and are in need of legal as well as financial advice.


More Jamaicans to Access Medical Training

More Jamaican students will be able to access medical training at the recently opened $4 billion Faculty of Medical Sciences Teaching and Research Complex, at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona campus.

The 250,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility boasts some of the most advanced teaching and research laboratories, lecture theatres and tutorial rooms, which national leaders and academics at UWI have hailed as an investment for a great future in medical advancement.
