Apart from needing the win, the Reggae Boyz were depending on a Mexican victory over Honduras in San Pedro Sula to guarantee their progression.  However, Honduras came away 1-0 winners in that game leaving Jamaica with the almost impossible task of scoring six goals against Canada.

But it might have been.  The first scoring chance in the game went to Ricardo Fuller who climbed high in the box to get a powerful header on target.  The Canadian keeper was up to the task and came up with the good save.

Reggae Boyz focusing on Canada match

Jamaica will face its third do-or-die match in as many games tomorrow night in Kingston when they go up against Canada in its final match of the semi-final stage of the 2010 World Cup qualifiers.

The Reggae Boyz came bank from the brink of elimination when they had consecutive 1-0 victories at the "Office" over Honduras and Mexico and now have the distinct possibility of getting through to the next round.

Taj WeeksSt. Lucian roots reggae artist Taj Weekes and his band Adowa celebrate the acceptance of their sophomore release DEIDEM for consideration of a Best Reggae Album nomination by The Recording Academy for the 51st Annual Grammy Awards on February 8, 2009. Grammy hopeful Weekes states, “We may just be the first St. Lucian artists to be nominated for a Grammy to date.” For the first time ever, the announcement of nominations for the 2009 Grammy Awards will take place during a prime-time television special, “The GRAMMY Nominations Concert Live!! — Countdown To Music’s Biggest Night,” on December 3 on the CBS Television Network.
