Update on Shortage of Private Licence Plates

Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) wishes to advise the public that they continue to experience a shortage of Private Motor Vehicle Licence Plates at its offices across the island, as they have not received the expected delivery from the local supplier.

Zero-Rating to be Done Online Effective September 1

Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) is advising that effective Tuesday, September 1, 2015 entities qualified for zero-rating, such as schools, charities and embassies, will be required to request zero-rating approval letters online using the TAJ Eservice facility at www.jamaicatax.gov.jm.  The changes will also allow.

As a result of these changes, entities entitled to zero-rating on goods and services will no longer be able to get their invoices stamped “zero-rated” at a tax office, but will be required to make these requests online. Zero-rating approval/rejection letters will be generated electronically as part of the process. Business persons and suppliers will also be able to confirm the validity of transactions which have been approved for zero-rating.
