Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) introduced a new look Motor Vehicle Registration Certificate (MVRC) on Tuesday April 2, 2013, coinciding with the new fiscal year. The introduction of the new MVRC forms part of the tax authority’s overall security enhancement activity, while ensuring the motor vehicle registration process is more efficient.

JPS President & CEO, Kelly Tomblin, is expressing her sincere appreciation to West Kingston Member of Parliament, Desmond Mckenzie, for the apology issued on behalf of residents of Tivoli Gardens, over bottle and stone throwing at JPS crews working in the community.

Ms. Tomblin says, “we do appreciate the MP’s apology and support.  We are all in this together.”  She further adds, “we are partners, and we value M.P. Mckenzie’s stance and input.  This is the kind of political leadership we need to address this volatile situation.  I am worried if we don't put an end to this, someone is going to get seriously hurt.”  The JPS CEO further stated: “we do look forward to continuing a productive relationship with himself and members of the community.”

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Sub-regional Office for Barbados and the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and the Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) are pleased to announce the 20 Finalists of the First Edition of the Caribbean Innovation Challenge (CIC).

At the CIC Finals, the following teams will compete for six awards in three categories: Economic, Social, and Environmental.

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Sub-regional Office for Barbados and the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and the Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) are pleased to announce the upcoming Finals, Expo and Award Ceremony of the Caribbean Innovation Challenge (CIC) that will take place on April 25-26, 2013 at the Hilton Hotel Resort in Barbados.

The Caribbean Innovation Challenge (CIC) is an international entrepreneur competition and business start-up accelerator for young people in the CARICOM Member States. Awarding projects in three categories (Social, Economic and Environmental), the CIC promotes innovation, social enterprise and the development of entrepreneurial initiatives in diverse and new sustainability sectors. The CIC is a component of the UNDP project Youth Innovation (Youth-IN): A Caribbean Network for Youth Development.
