Sherone Simpson, Shelly-Ann Fraser and Kerron Stewart will each try to replicate Usian Bolt and become the first Jamaican to win the women’s 100m event at the Olympics. Last night, Bolt demolished the world record as he stormed to victory by two-tenths of a second. The Jamaican ladies can, however, expect a much tighter race as the depth in the event is amazing. Looking to stop the Jamaican sweep of the century event will be three Americans namely Lauryn Williams, Muna Lee and Torrie Edwards. Fraser won her semifinal with 11.0 seconds while Stewart ran 11.05 to win her race and take the Jamaicans into the final with the two fastest times. Simpson will start the final in lane 2 while Fraser will be in lane 4 and Stewart in lane 7. The race is set to go off in under an hour.
