Saturday night in Barcelona saw Jamaica's Veronica Campbell- Brown continue her impressive form this season as she blazed the 200m at the Mitin de Atletismo Ciutat de Barcelona track meet in a winning time of 21.98.

That was the second fastest time of the year bettered only by her own 21.94 which she clocked at the Jamaican National Championships last month.

"It was a good run, I'm happy to come out here for my last 200 before the Olympics and run a very comfortable race. I executed well and I now feel very confident, that was the whole objective, to end on a good note," said Campbell-Brown.

"Now all I need to do is stay focused and healthy. I know that things are going to be very competitive in Beijing and to accomplish what I want, I know I've got to stay mentally tough but my morale on the  way there will now be sky high," she added.

Bianca Knight, who beat Campbell-Brown at the Jamaica International Invitational in Kingston early this year, was a distant second in 22.47.

Meanwhile, in the men's 400m, Jamaica's Ricardo Chambers lowered his season's best to 44.80 as he won the event ahead of Trinidad's Reny Quow.  Quow was timed in 44.89.  The top three was rounded out by Calvin Smith of the United States in 45.07.  Michael Blackwood, 45.43, finished fifth.

Vonnette Dixon also produced a podium finish as she came in second in the women's 100m with a time of 12.83 seconds.  Winning the event was American national champion and world-leader Lolo Jones with a time of  12.69 seconds.   Spiniard, Josephine Nnkiruka Onyia, 12.87, was third.
