The national carrier, Air Jamaica, is facing problems once again as U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Philadelphia International Airport found a little over nine pounds of cocaine and marijuana in eight packages aboard a flight on Sunday. The officers were alerted after a crew member spotted some suspicious packages. The cocaine has a street value of just over US$40,000. The marijuana was estimated to be valued at just over $4,000. The packages were wrapped tightly in brown tape and hidden in a drawer of a food cart. CBP officers boarded the airplane and seized the narcotics.
