ImageBefore Minka came on to the fashion scene some 8 years ago, crochet was associated only with frilly doilies made to lay on your 'what-not' and 'breakfront' underneath the figurines.

Fast-forward to Caribbean Fashion Week 2008 where the little lady continued to demonstrate innovative uses for the age-old knitting technique with a short and spicy collection of her crocheted numbers which featured a bit of everything from evening to beach wear.

There was the flirty cocktail dress, the ultra-mini, the “white hot” jumpsuit complete with matching cap, the lovely floor-length dress in blends of green and the scorching hot halter dress worn by GQ covergirl Nell Robinson… and boy did she wear it well !

After a few more equally stunning pieces Minka stepped out unto the runway beaming with satisfaction to thunderous applause in the cutest little afro-inspired vanilla dress (one of her own designs of course).

Making an indelible mark on Caribbean Fashion Week with her innovative creations as she has done before, there is no doubt that she will continue to blaze the trail for other hopefuls in the fashion industry.
