The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) has received equipment valued at $32 million from the Ministry of National Defence, People's Republic of China. Among the items are bullet-proof helmets, jungle hats, combat boots and camouflage uniforms. The JDF has also received musical instruments from China. Speaking at the handing over ceremony at Up Park Camp, Acting Officer Commanding, JDF Supply Depot, Captain Oneil Bogle said that the ceremony marked another milestone in the growth and relationship between the Government of Jamaica and the People's Republic of China. "It is no secret that the globalized environment in which we co-exist, requires that ties between nations and nation states be enhanced in all realms of the imagination. This is even more critical as countries strive to ensure their survival in the face of shrinking resources, both economic and otherwise," he said.
