A strike was averted at the Windalco bauxite plant in Kirkvine as the National Workers Union (NWU) told told the disgruntled employees to refrain from staging a walkout after the Industrial Disputes Tribunal (IDT) issued an order barring workers from taking industrial action. The order was issued to "all persons who are threatening to take industrial action in contemplation of the dispute". The dispute was referred to the IDT by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, under the Labour Relations and Industrial Disputes Act (LRIDA), after it failed to conciliate a settlement on Thursday.
