Australia continued to dominate the West Indies, helped in part by Michael Clarke, who cracked 110 and took two cheap wickets on yesterday's second day of the second Test at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.

With an overnight score of 259 for three, Australia ended their innings at 479 for seven declared at tea.

The West Indies reached 125 for three at stumps with Clarke claiming two for seven.  Opener Xavier Marshall top scored with 53 while Captain Ramnaresh Sarwan (32 not out) and veteran Shivnarine Chanderpaul (five not out) saw the Windies through to the end.

The West Indies, after taking the second new ball at the start of the day, gained immediate success with the early dismissals of Simon Katich and Andrew Symonds.

Katich, who was on 113 overnight, failed to add to his score before edging a legside catch to wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin off Jerome Taylor.  Symonds failed to make an impact as he got out on 18 when he also edged one down the legside off Fidel Edwards.  Australia, at this point, were 296 for five.

Clarke took up the brunt of the attack and played some gorgeous strokes as he approached three figures.  He was assisted by a dropped catch by Ramdin off Taylor when on 63 but that close call did not slow him down.  He was able to build a good partnership with Brad Haddin (33) and then partnered with Lee to score his seventh test . When he got to 110, he top-edged a pull at Daren Powell to forward square leg at 414 for seven after batting 283 minutes and facing 248 balls.

Mitchell Johnson joined Lee at the crease and continued the onslaught as the pair added 65 unbroken off 55 balls before the declaration came at tea.  Both batsmen were dropped off Darren Sammy's medium pace. Lee, on 28, was missed at mid-off by Edwards, while Johnson, on 17, was dropped by Dwayne Bravo at deep extra cover.  Lee hit eight fours and a six off 82 balls. Johnson's 29 not out included three fours off 26 balls.

The West Indies reply began positively with some highlight reel strokes from Marshall.  However, Devon Smith (16) wasn't able to stay with him as he departed at 55 for one.

Marshall completed his maiden Test 50 before falling to Clarke's spin late in the day.  Clarke added the wicket of Runako Morton (2), who flighted a delivery to midwicket in the next over as the Aussies ended the day in control.
