ImageJamaican artistes Beenie Man, Tarrus Riley, Ky-Mani Marley, Stephen Marley as well as Sean Kingston, all copped two awards each at the 27th International Reggae & World Music Awards (IRAWMA) last night at the Apollo Theater in New York. 

However, Machel Montano took home the most "silverware" as he walked away with three awards.

 

Montano won the award for the coveted entertainer of the year as well as best calypso/soca entertainer and most outstanding on stage personality. 

Other major category winners were Beenie Man-Recording Artist of the Year, Taurus Riley- Best Male Vocalist, Etana-Best Female Vocalist, Shaggy-Best Music Video (Church Heathen), Stephen Marley-Songwriter of the Year and Stephen McGregor-Producer of the Year.

The IRAWMA also honoured music by inducting three industry stalwarts into their Hall of Fame. International singer Billy Ocean, gospel artiste Claudelle Clarke, and long-time recording engineer (think, Bob Marley), were inducted into the IRAWMA Hall of Fame by Illinois Appellate Court Judge, Shelvin Louise Marie Hall and her sister, New York State Supreme Court Justice Priscilla Hall, the USA's first black, sister high court judges.

Also, Awards of Appreciation for Contributions to the Music Industry were given to Herman Hall, publisher of Everybody's Magazine; songstress Winsome Benjamin and Karl Rodney, publisher of Carib News.

14. Best Latin Entertainer- Marc Anthony
15. Best Compas Entertainer – Carimi
16. Best African Entertainer – Lucky Dube- Post Humous
17. Best Soukous Entertainer- Papa Wembe
18. Best Hip Hop/R&B Entertainer- Rihanna
19. Award for Outstanding Contribution to World Music – King Sunny Ade
20. Most Outstanding Stage Personality – Machel Montano
