Two teenagers, one of whom is the son of a People's National Party (PNP) councillor/caretaker, led the police to residential address in Stony Hill where more than 1500 "Cuban" light bulbs were found.

The police from the St Andrew North Division report that they were conducting spot checks and stopped a Toyota Yaris motor car during operations at about 1:45 pm yesterday.  While searching the teens, it was ascertained that the car in which they were travelling was stolen a few days earlier.

The teens then accompanied the police to the premises in Stony Hill where the bulbs were discovered.

Commanding officer for the St Andrew North Division, Superintendent Anthony Morris, said although the markings on the bulbs indicate they originated from Cuba, it couldn't be determined at this stage whether they are linked to the controversial Cuban light-bulb project.

"From all indications, they are light bulbs that were made in Cuba," he said, "(and) we will be continuing in that aspect to see if the bulbs are indeed linked to the project."

Superintendent Morris also said the Organised Crime Investigation Division had been contacted and would be investigating the matter further.

Now that the JCF has finally taken the decision to enforce the Noise Abatement Act perhaps now they will start enforcing all the other laws like The Litter Act and The Country Fires Act. The persons who break all these laws have succeeded in making life almost unlivable for the rest of us. Some so called promoters have been suggesting times when they think the tortuous noise should end, some one should tell them that their input is not needed, just obey the law.
