Prime Minister the Hon. Bruce Golding has congratulated the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) on its latest advertising campaign featuring international sprinter, Ambassador Usain Bolt.

In his address at the launch last week (January 25) at the Devonshire, Devon House in Kingston, the Prime Minister said that promoting the people of the country was the best way to promote the destination.

"Marcus Garvey, Bob Marley and now Usain Bolt. What has really made Jamaica recognised, talked about and respected is its people. There is this amazing thing about Jamaican people...their way of life and how they relate to each other.. Who could have wanted a greater boost, a more valuable input than to have the fastest man in the world now being the poster boy of Jamaica's tourism? He has this enormous humanity about him and he has endeared himself to the world, "Mr. Golding told his audience.

The Prime Minister asked Usain Bolt's team to convey his thanks for participating in the campaign, especially as he is not charging for the use of his image. Ambassador Bolt is in training and could not attend the event.

The commercials that feature several beauty spots, as well as William Knibb High school, Bolt's Alma Mater, will be launched on YouTube on January 26 and will start on US cable on February 4.
