The Universal Negro Improvement Association headed by the Rt. Excellent Marcus Mosiah Garvey in 1914 is alive and growing in 2009. The President Mr. Steven Golding and Lady President Mrs. Enid Courtney are proud to be the Patrons of the 1st Annual Marcus Garvey Awards and Charity Event.

All proceeds on the night will go towards remedial classes for street youths, dispensary and computer skills center, agricultural re-socialization program, counseling center for abused children, home for handicapped & HIV children and training for young women in nursing to give back to their communities.

On this night they will be acknowledging and awarding great people in Jamaica who have given their time and energy unselfishly towards helping, developing, educating and inspiring the less fortunate. The awardees have gone unrecognized, but have demonstrated however that they stand for the principles and ideas that Marcus Garvey promoted.

A NIGHT TO CELEBRATE: Self Respect, Self Reliance and Empowerment. The UNIA will embark on this charitable journey on the Birthday of Jamaica’s First National Hero.
