Cable & Wireless Jamaica has selected Ericsson as its long-term strategic business partner to upgrade and expand its network. Under the three-year agreement, Ericsson will be the systems integrator (SI) to transform Cable & Wireless' core network to a next-generation IP network, deploying Ericsson Mobile Softswitch and Mobile Packet Backbone Network solutions, as well as Ericsson Multi Mediation platform.

Brazilians to buy Jamaica's sugar company, invest in ethanol |

Christopher Tufton, Jamaica's agricultural minister, says Infinity Bio-Energy, a Brazilian renewable energy company, is finalizing talks to buy the struggling Sugar Company of Jamaica to boost its ethanol production. Minister Tufton says the Brazilian company will take over in September. Jamaica will retain a 25 percent share in the company for three years. Officials did not cite a sale amount.

The income tax threshold moves to $200,304 on July 1, up from the current tax- free amount of $193,440, which means that persons earning at or below those levels on an annual basis will not pay income tax.
They are subject, however, to other statutory taxes.
The new threshold will give tax- free income of $16,692 for monthly paid workers, $7,704 fortnightly, or $3,852 weekly.

If not the first technical market analyst, W. D. Gann was certainly among the more successful. Creating and publicizing a new approach to analyzing markets, Gann claimed to have made a world’s record in leverage and accuracy more than once, that he had developed trading strategies for speculators, and that he could predict market moves to exact price levels. William Delbert Gann was born on a cotton ranch on June 6, 1878, in Lufkin, Texas. He displayed a strong aptitude in mathematics during his early years, completed a high-school education, and started trading in 1902 at the age of 24. By his own admission, Gann’s early trading was based on “hope, fear and greed,” all of which he later realized were not compatible with a successful trading strategy.
