ImageAfter delivery a powerful musical punch at this year's Brooklyn Music Festival in June, the '5 Star General' Bounty Killer returns to Brooklyn for round two this Labor Day. In celebration of the West Indian-American Carnival weekend, the General and his Alliance lieutenants will storm Brooklyn's Caribbean City nightclub on Monday, September 7th. After dominating Sumfest and Champions in Action, two of Jamaica's biggest summer stagings, the Warlord's return to Brooklyn is highly anticipated.
 
Billed as the 'After Parkway Jam,' the event--taking place immediately after the day-long carnival parade on Eastern Parkway--is a fitting close to the West Indian-American Day Carnival celebrations and the City's summer concert season.

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Wycliffe 'Steely' Johnson. His passing is a tremendous loss to the Dancehall industry, and a tremendous loss to me personally -- Steely is the man who sparked my love of music and inspired me to be a selector.
 
Talk to anyone who grew up with me, and they'll tell you that I idolized Steely from Silver Hawk Sound. When I struggling to establish myself as a selector in the early days, I adopted the name 'Steelie' with the goal to one day have my own sound and be at the top of the game -- like Steely.

While the Gaza Strip has been known throughout history as an explosive region in the Palestine territories, the 'Gaza' strip in Jamaica's coastal community of Portmore, St. Catherine, is well known for its explosive musical talent. Two of the Gaza's finest, rising Dancehall deejay Blak Ryno and singer Jah Vinci have recently been added to North America's signature staging for Caribbean music and entertainment. Their September 6th performance at York College not only marks their Irie Jamboree debut, but also their first appearance on a major concert in the Tri-State area.
 
Blak Ryno and Jah Vinci are appearing alongside Reggae and Dancehall stalwarts like Sean Paul, Freddie McGregor, Tarrus Riley, Pinchers, Sugar Minott, T.O.K., Assassin, and Vegas, and striking new talents like Laden, Chino, and Tifa--among many other performers--to document the 'history of the music' from the birth of classic Reggae to the digitally-driven Dancehall movement. Now in its seventh year, Irie Jamboree has earned a reputation for not only showcasing the biggest and best names in Caribbean music, but the leaders of the next generation of talent emerging from the islands and the Diaspora.

ImageThe platinum Hip Hop artist with the fabulously famous laid-back flow will be joining the 'kings' of Caribbean music at Newark's Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium on September 20th. Island/Def Jam artist Fabolous has recently been added to the 9th Annual New Jersey Reggae Fest, this year christened the International Edition.
 
Fresh off the release of his latest album Loso's Way, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 in late July, Fabolous--who is of Dominican decent-will be hitting the Jersey Music Fest stage with the 'King of the Dancehall' Beenie Man, 'International Soca King' Machel Montano, and iconic Roots Reggae/Dancehall champion Buju Banton.

Digicel Hosts "Gold Concerts" In Honour Of Jamaican Athletes PDF Print E-mail

Jamaica's outstanding atheletes who continue to compete at the 12th IAAF World Championships in Berlin will be celebrated as Digicel, Jamaica’s bigger, better network will host  two simultaneous Gold Concerts in Montego Bay and Kingston on Saturday 22 August from 11 am to 3 pm. 

“It is simply astounding to see what a country of 2.7 million people can achieve on the world stage in almost everything that they do. The performance of our athletes in Berlin is amazing and we want to celebrate with Jamaica and send a deep message of congratulations to all of our athletes with these concerts”, expressed Mark Linehan, CEO of Digicel, Jamaica.
