Jamaica Defense Force Receives Equipment from China

The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) has received equipment valued at $32 million from the Ministry of National Defence, People's Republic of China. Among the items are bullet-proof helmets, jungle hats, combat boots and camouflage uniforms. The JDF has also received musical instruments from China.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony at Up Park Camp, Acting Officer Commanding, JDF Supply Depot, Captain Oneil Bogle said that the ceremony marked another milestone in the growth and relationship between the Government of Jamaica and the People's Republic of China.

ImageJamaica is set to play host to international martial arts when the UK's Thai Boxing Champion, Julie Kitchen faces WIKBA World Muay Thai Champion and No. 1 Female Muay Thai Fighter, Germaine de Randamie of Holland, in an all-out girl's brawl for the IKKC Muay Thai Women's World Lightweight and WIKBA World Muay Thai Championship Titles.

Muay Thai is the prestigious national sport of Thailand with a history dating back to 1560 A.D. It has an international fan base that span across the world.  MuayThai literally means Thai Boxing and is known as The Art of the Eight Limbs.  This style of boxing incorporates the use of elbows, and knees and allows the fighter to execute strikes using eight points of contact.

Organizational performance expert, Liz Bywater, PhD, was recently the featured guest on the Today show, aired June 6, 2008, on Hot 102 FM, Kingston, Jamaica. Bywater,  is the founder and president of Bywater Consulting Group and she helps her clients dramatically improve individual, team and organizational performance.

According to Bywater, "... burnout is serious business. If unaddressed, it can lead to debilitating levels of anxiety and depression. At worst, it can lead to physical symptoms or even self-harm."
